Australia is getting the new Jimny. Quarter 1 2019. 1.5 litre engine producing 75 kW @6000 130 Nm @4000 and weighs roughly 1100 kg. Manual gearbox and part time 4x4.
Lots of silly colours too.

Yeah it could make for a good rural shopping trolley and farm rig to replace a 1st gen Forester... especially now the Forester has the dimensions, performance and features of a sequined beanbag.

They need to bring back the tray back. One of the cars I learnt to drive in was my Grandpas Sierra and we got some ridiculous angles on that gutless bucket

M ax torque and hp come in at pretty high revs. Especially for the torque, I’m not sure that’s a good thing for this type of vehicle.

I noticed that and I share the same concern. However, there are two things in its favour. First is that the current 1.3 litre engine is no different from memory and the second is we don’t know the shape of the torque curve yet. I’m intrigued that it appears to be a new/revised engine rather than something like the 1.4 booster jet in the Vitara and Swift.

Fair enough. I suppose in low range it'll be easier to hit peak torque, too. I guess one will have to wait and see.
